Goddess in Progress is a stay-at-home mom to boy/girl twins in the Boston area. But that wasn’t always the case.
She grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and ended up staying nearby for college. Four days after graduation, though, and it was time for a change of scenery. She left the Midwest for New England (and graduate school). Six months later, she made a terrible first impression on her future husband, and the rest (as they say) is history.
Married in 2004, she and new hubby M bought a colonial in the ‘burbs, she finally convinced him they should get a dog, and a year and a half after the wedding, they decided to “cease chemical warfare” (stop taking the pill) and try to become parents. Heh.
As it turned out, she was lucky in that it wasn’t too hard to get pregnant. The trouble came in staying pregnant. After two miscarriages (off the pill in April, pregnant in July and September), she discovered in the early days of 2007 that she was not only pregnant, but expecting twins. File under “be careful what you wish for,” because M had been joking for months that they should just get it all over with at once and have boy/girl twins. Little did they know…
Daniel & Rebecca were born at 36 weeks (exactly) on August 3, 2007. After a pretty uneventful week in the NICU, they came home. And nothing has been the same, since.
This blog has been a way to document experiences with pregnancy, miscarriages, childbirth, and life with two babies. Hopefully readers will get something from reading these stories. If nothing else, perhaps you’ll be entertained at the follies of a first-time-mom. Whatever it takes.
